Plastiflex is a world leader in the development and production of tubing systems and components for medical and industrial applications. Smooth-Bor Plastics is a manufacturer of tubes and tubing systems with factories in Laguna Hills, California and Johor Bahru, Malaysia. The company specialises in the production of heated tubes for continuous positive airway pressure (“CPAP”) devices, as well as other tubing systems and masks for the respiratory care market.
Smooth-Bor will continue to be headquartered in Laguna Hills, CA, which will be a hub for the development of tubing systems and extrusion lines for the combined entity. Smooth-Bor’s manufacturing facilities in Laguna Hills and in Malaysia will both continue their production.
As a result of the partnership with Smooth-Bor, the combined entity will further extend its product portfolio, particularly in the sleep and ventilation markets, and will be able to offer additional production capacity in the USA and Southeast Asia, in line with the group’s operational strategy of regional self-sufficiency.
The Group now has 11 manufacturing facilities across the world with six dedicated health care facilities in North America (U.S. and Mexico), EMEA (Germany and Turkey) and Asia (China and Malaysia).
The existing Smooth-Bor leadership team, which has been guided since 2016 by Eric Carlson, CEO, Steve Caiozzo, President and CFO, and Jennifer Carlson, EVP will remain in place.
